Dream stub: Cruel

Only the bare gist of this dream remained with me upon waking.

I'm standing with J (best friend from my school days, who has appeared in several dreams before) in a costume shop, waiting to be invited to go to a party with her. She's not the friendly and inviting J I had always known, however; she's aloof, cool, even cruel. She refuses to coax or coddle me, saying "Come or don't; invite yourself already."

The message, as I see it, is that depending on others' approval for happiness or a social life is foolish.
