In the first part of this dream, I meet J, a former friend (whom I have dreamt of before), in Ireland. Her ex-boyfriend is also there, and I am walking with them and showing them some nifty sights I'd seen while I was there before. She gives us the slip and we chase her, trying to keep up, over a wide marshy green field. In the middle of the field is a circular wooden cover, and when I stand on it I realize that this isn't a field, it's a covered lake. At the edge of the field is a river, and over it a tower; J climbs it and jumps into the water to escape us.

In the second part of the dream, there are two separate points of view. I met with several friends, two of them female and one male, an ex-boyfriend who would not keep his hands to himself. I hurt him and had sympathy from everyone present for doing so, even his current girlfriend. In an abandoned motel similar to the one we sat in, an Arabic man and his girlfriend have a trial marriage and quadruplets; she walks out on him and their children, leaving him bitter.

I think to myself, as I look over both points of view, "This is how hate starts."

Notes and explanatory details
#1. J was busy and popular when I knew her; it was hard to keep up with her.

#2. Quite a few of my dreams featured Ireland and water for a time. From floods to storms to the covered lake, I'm still at a loss as to what it represents.

#3. The ex-boyfriend happens to be Irish. (He wasn't as obnoxious in real life as he was in the dream.) If there is a connection between the two parts beyond this, I'm not sure what it is.
